Edits I've made to the Prologue and Chapter One

From an old photograph to the fire that started it all

Hey everyone,
I've officially started working on the second draft of TR Terrors - Part I!
For a pretty long time, I thought the Prologue and Chapter One were good enough. But, after a year and a half, I finally took a closer look – and realised they weren't quiet right.
So I rewrote them.
Now, the Prologue and Chapter One set the stage for something deeper – mystery, grief and secrets buried in ashes.

The old prologue felt rushed. It glossed over the complexity of Ashlynn and Alexandra's relationship, failing to address the tension between them. Whereas Chapter One focused to much on the aftermath of the fire and didn't quite capture the pain and emotional impact it had on the characters.
In my rewrite, I've done my best to fix those gaps:
  • I tried layering the mystery onto the emotion.
  • I tried making the opening more cinematic and relevant to the story,
  • I brought in characters like Ashlynn and the Gemstones earlier so that their presence is more established.
There is still plenty of room for improvement, but I've come a long way since my first upload on 17 December 2023. I believe I'm getting closer to the final version of TR Terrors – or at least I hope so.
Thanks for being a part of this journey!
Ana
